Type Locality and Naming
Li Hanmin (1994) named the Yousheng Formation in the Heping and Xinglong counties. The type Locality is at the Yousheng section in the Heping County of Guangdong (115º05', 24º30').
Lithology and Thickness
This formation is a group of volcanic rocks. It consists of rhyolite tuff, rhyolite, dacitic lava and basalt. It is 10 to 662 m in thickness.

Lower contact
The formation contacts unconformably with the underlying Heshui Fm.
Upper contact
The formation contacts unconformably with the overlying Yetang Fm.
Regional extent
It is distributed in the Meixian, Longchuan, Heping, Wuhua and Heyuan areas.
